Postscript Newsletter: July-August

We’ve made it to summer and the weather has been cooperating so far leading to fabulous beach days, rose’ and cold beer sales. Throughout the dog days, we’ll promise to keep the most popular beer selections abundant and ice cold as well as fully stocked displays of rose’ and summer sippers. Our July-Aug special is 20% off all white wines from around the world when you purchase 6+ bottles (750ml only, red tagged excluded). As always, our rose’ is still 20% off 3+ bottles all summer long as well.

Grand Rose’ Tasting.

Saturday, July 23rd. Upper Falls Location Only. 2-5pm.

The third year in the making now, and more popular than ever! Rose’ is by far the hottest category/trend that the wine world has seen in over a decade. Rose’ is being produced from almost every red grape in almost ever country and growing region. They all range in terms of style, taste, weight, and color. At our Grand Rose’ tasting, pop in to sample over 40 different types to see which ones you want to stock up on before the summer ends. In addition to the tasting, we’ll be blowing them out at 25% off that day only!

Wines of the Month:

DFV_2014%20Cuvee

2014 Davis Family Cuvee’ Luke

This is one of my all time favorite white wines. The Cuvée Luke is a blend of 48% Roussanne, 35% Marsanne and 17% Viognier, named for the Davis’ eldest grandchild. This wine was inspired by traditions from the Rhône Valley, while embracing the terrior of the Russian River Valley. The three varieties come together seamlessly, expressing stone fruit and floral aromatics, balanced with a distinctive minerality. On sale through the summer for 19.98 per bottle.

Reserve des Rochers Macon Chaintre’

Fermented in stainless steel, aged on its lees for a minimum of six months, Domaine des Rochers Macon Chaintre is bottled without any oak aging. Aromas of pear and golden apples mingle with scents of wet stone. Full bodied, fresh, crisp, and clean with citrus acidity and an edge of minerality to compliment the long finish. 100% Chardonnay (Unoaked). On sale for only $10.98 per bottle.

Susumaniello

Masseria Li Veli Susumaniello

This was the #1 wine from our Dalla Terra Italian Tasting a few months back. It overshined over 40 other Italian reds, even some $75 Barolos. It hails from the Puglia region of Southern Italy and is made from 100% Susumaniello, an indigenous varietal that was almost extinct but revitalized by Li Veli and now grows abundantly across their property. It’s similar to Pinot Noir in terms of weight and structure, with slightly darker, bolder fruit. It’s best enjoyed in the summer with a slight chill on the bottle. You may have never heard of Susumaniello but if you like red wine, this is the ultimate crowd pleaser. Ruby red with purplish shimmer, on the nose it presents a distinct red berries aroma, from raspberry, sour cherry, to blackcurrant, followed by liquorices, rhubarb and rawhide leather. On the mouth it tastes soft with a good fatness, very elegant and well balanced by a tannins party. The long finish on the palate shows a touch of acidity and a great freshness. On sale for $15.98 per bottle.
