WINES OF THE MONTH

2014 Raymond R Collection Cabernet Sauvignon.

The R Collection Cab from esteemed Raymond winery sources grapes from the finest vineyards throughout California. It’s deep garnet in the glass, opens with alluring aromas of dark red fruits, boysenberry pie and a touch of lightly candied violet. Upon the palate this luscious Cabernet Sauvignon presents rich flavors of dried plums, Medjool dates, red currants and bright berries. This succulent Cab has medium weight and soft, round tannins that lead to a memorable finish. Normally $14.99. On sale for $8.98 per bottle!

2012 Argiano Rosso di Montalcino

We had incredible success with the 2010 Argiano Brunello di Montalcino this past year so we figured we’d try the baby brother to see how it compared. It blew us away too. This is exactly what wine from Montalcino should taste like. Super complex, fruit-driven and intriguing. Strawberry bubblegum with tar, balsamic, and ripe plums on the nose. Firm tannins with coffee beans, dried mushroom and rocks on the nose. We enjoyed it this past year but it will be even better in 2016. 91pts from Tanzer. Normally $17.99. On sale for $13.98 per bottle!

2011 Durnberg Rabenstein Gruner Veltliner

Austrian Gruner is a year-round wine. It’s lively and refreshing in the summer and serious and bold in the winter. It also pairs with almost every food imaginable due to its striking acidity, natural weight, and bold mineral backbone. This is a wine from 45-year old Gruner vines with scents of ripe pear and apple with subtle roasted notes. Good extract and spice on the palate with a fine-tuned, mineral finish. Perfect with smoked fish, winter root vegetable stew, or ham. Normally $19.99. On sale now for only $14.98.

2014 Venta Morales Tempranillo

We recently sent our wine team to a Spanish portfolio tasting with legendary importer Jorge Ordonez. We tasted this wine blind and all agreed that it was wonderful. What we didn’t realize was how inexpensive it actually was. For this price, I dare you to find a better red wine that tastes like it should be $14.99. Black and blue fruit aromas mingle with dark chocolate and licorice. Bing cherry and mocha on the mid palate with serious weight and tannin structure. An everyday wine you won’t be ashamed of buying by the case. On sale for only $5.98 per bottle.

2012 Beringer Knigts Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

From the heralded 2012 vintage in Napa comes this classic. The Knights Valley Cab is especially deep and powerful in this vintage. Smoke, game, incense, leather, pomegranate, spice and red cherries are some of the many notes that inform this striking Cabernet from Sonoma’s Knights Valley, a fertile hunting ground for savory, mineral-driven wines full of character. This is a fabulous wine for the money! 90pts Wine Spectator. Normally $29.99. On sale now for only $20.98
